The first part, Owl-
Window, describes the
burdensome childhood
experiences of a boy,
inflicted by a cold,
negligent mother,
whose entire being is
consumed by
destructive conflicts
and belligerent fights
within her marriage.
The reader is taken into
the dark inner-worlds
of Angst, a complex
labyrinth of neverending
hallways of
fear, full of painful
passages covered with
treacherous traps that
lead into lonely
dungeons where the
soul is bound and
tormented. Cold, cruel
owl’s eyes become the
landmark of horror, the
bearer of death and the
cause of nightly
anxiety. The cage of
Angst has become a
virtually inescapable
prison.
